12.7-mm Degtyarev-Shpagin machine gun of the 1938 model is a Soviet large-caliber machine gun chambered for 12.7×108 mm, which was adopted for service on February 26, 1939 by the resolution of the Defense Committee under the USSR Council of People's Commissars. The DShK of the Degtyarev V. O. system with a drum receiver of the Shpagin G. S. system was installed on a universal machine of the I. M. Kolesnikov system with a detachable wheelbase and a folding tripod. During the Soviet-German war, the DShK machine gun was used by infantry units to combat air targets, lightly armored enemy vehicles, and manpower at long and medium ranges, and as an additional weapon for tanks and self-propelled guns.
